Our story

Something familiar. Something new.

The estate

A landmark that never stopped working.

Fewer than one in ten properties on the National Register are listed individually. WinMock is one of them, and it still does what it was built for: bringing people to the land.

  1. 1924–1933

    A gentleman’s dairy

    S. Clay Williams, president of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, builds a country retreat on rolling land along the Yadkin River, between Winston-Salem and Mocksville. Its dairy barn is 180 feet long.

  2. The dairy years

    Red Poll cattle

Win-Mock Farm Dairy grows into one of the largest dairies in North Carolina, with one of the best Red Poll herds in the country.

  3. 2009

    Empty barns

The farm stands vacant. Sterling Events Group, producers of conferences from Scottish castles to Alpine villas, sees what it could be.

  4. 2010

    Restored, and listed

Sterling restores the buildings and installs modern technical infrastructure. In December the barn is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  5. 2011

    Doors open

WinMock hosts its first events. Partners such as the Triad Business Journal have returned every year since.

  6. Today

One team, three kinds of event

Weddings, corporate conferences and celebrations, each with its own dedicated team, and 5.0 from 133 couples on The Knot.

Our team

The part couples review most.

Out of everything at WinMock, our staff get the most rave reviews. They work in teams dedicated to each kind of event, so the people who plan yours know it inside out.
